Ondřej Dudák

I am a Czech painter who likes to walk through the painting while creating and discover a space where time slows down and a new reality emerges. I find inspiration primarily in European cultural heritage and nature, whose interconnection I perceive as an inexhaustible source of themes. In my paintings, I try to capture not only the atmosphere of a place or situation but often hide my memories in the painting as well. My favorite techniques are oil, acrylic and watercolor painting.
My journey began in 2008 at the National Gallery in London, where I discovered the paintings The Hay Wain and Salisbury Cathedral from the Meadows by John Constable and the painting The Fighting Temeraire by J.M.W. Turner, whose story and symbolism spoke to me. The paintings impressed me so much that I bought a book about Constable on the spot, with a commitment to learn not only how to paint but also to study English so that I could read the book. Now my artistic education includes studies at the Studio of Realistic Painting KMM in Prague, at Leeds College of Art in northern England, and with several other Czech and foreign painters. In England, I also learned English, so I have already read that book. Since 2020, I have been regularly exhibiting and teaching art courses and now in my own studio in Kladno.
